There are times when we hear hurtful words from our loved ones or even our friends. Often, those words are not forgotten and often remain etched in our hearts and minds. Words that can change our view of the person who said them or even change our lives. But, are those the words we should focus on? Are those the words our humanity should carry as we live in a world that often brings us only heartaches? The Bible says:
It is true that the Word of God is what will benefit us and we should bring it into our lives. It is like a double-edged sword, which is sharp and painful when it hits us because this is the fact that the Word of God is alive. It hurts when His Words hit us especially and it fits the situation we are in because nothing is hidden from God.
Everything we do is seen by Him. We can hide nothing from Him.
There were times in my life when I lived by continuing to commit the sins I was hiding. I felt like no one would know what I was doing because no one was looking at me. I felt like only I knew about those sins so I kept doing them until I met God, that's where it all started. That's when I felt so ashamed because I thought no one could see what I had done, but God saw everything. He saw how dirty I was. He saw what I hid the most. It was embarrassing.
It's like you want to sink into the ground because you got caught. You were so ashamed that you cried and prayed to Him for forgiveness. I felt all of that when I met God.
I was ashamed of my sins and I saw the dirty path I was walking on.
There were times after that, whenever I listened to the Pastor's preaching, it felt like I was always the one being hit by the teachings. It hurt, but you couldn't avoid it because it was true. And the only way for me to be okay is to endure the pain and weight of the teachings or Word of God because I know that is what will be good for me.
We hear many painful Words and reminders from the Lord every time we read the Bible but what this only means is that we are learning. That the Lord humbles us so that we can see the mistakes and things that keep us away from Him. He also shows us what is more important between the words of the people around us or His Words.
If you are harboring sin today and continue to be hurt by the Lord's Words, causing you to not listen to Him, please join me in a short prayer.
Our dear Father, thank You very much for this wonderful day that You have given us. Thank You that we still have the chance to listen to Your Words. Give us wisdom to learn the lessons that You want to convey to us and that we may think that Your Words are not meant to hurt us but rather to teach us so that we can have a joyful life in Your presence. Forgive us for our sins because we know that we have nothing to hide from You. Cleanse us and teach us to repent of the evil we have done to You and to our neighbors. Thank You very much. We raise all this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Praise God! May He bless us and be with us throughout the day.
