How can you say you love the Lord? Do you feel this with all your heart, or do you merely express it to yourself and to others so that they might acknowledge that you truly love the Lord? As it is stated in the Bible:
I remember back when I did not have a proper relationship with God; there were times when I was even too lazy to pray at night. I often fell asleep then without praying. It felt as though it did not matter to me whether I prayed or not. Occasionally, it would cross my mind to pray because I thought back then that it was alright since He could see what I was doing in my life. I thought before that it was acceptable because that was how I felt, and I believed that my life would continue in that manner. I did not attend church regularly back then; you could count my visits in a year.
However, things have changed now, and I realize that what I was doing was shameful.
Because before, I would say that I love the Lord, but I did not even allocate time for Him. He did not even cross my mind back then, and I was too lazy to pray. It is indeed shameful. It is shameful to God, not to man, because He sees through my deceit. How can I say I love God if that's what I'm doing to Him?
It is true that this should be the first commandment and the most important commandment that we should follow. Because we are nothing without God. He is the one who created us so it is only right that we return to Him the highest praise, worship and gratitude because in truth, we should give Him more than that. No one can tell us that the love we give to God is enough because His love for us is incomparable. He has no equal, no one like Him. He alone is almighty.
If we love a person, we should love the Lord more. Because how can we say that we love someone if we don't love the Lord? If we don't value Him? It's easy to say love through words, but in action we often miss it. Even with people, they won't believe if love is expressed verbally but not physically. The same goes for God; if you treat Him in the opposite way, the word "love" is meaningless. We can never mislead God, therefore we are just deceiving ourselves. We can deceive others around us by seeming to love them, but we cannot do the same to God since He is aware of our innermost thoughts and feelings.
Indeed, the first one we should love is God. He is worthy of receiving steadfast love. Love devoid of greed. Because love originates from Him. We must follow the first and most fundamental commandment. We must constantly remember it in our hearts and minds because it is right and true.
Are you experiencing a loss of love for the Lord as well? Come say a little prayer with me:
I am very grateful for Your love for someone like me, Lord, Father. Your love is the foundation of my existence, even if I am not worthy to stand in front of You. Please assist me in understanding Your commandments. Give me a heart filled with love for You. Keep the flame of love blazing in my life so that I may always return Your love. Thank You very much. You deserve all of the praise and glory, in Jesus' name, Amen.
Thank you for reading. To God be all the glory!!!
